Welcome to Cattle Talk! Why have a blog about cattle? That is the question, isn’t it? What is so important about cattle that causes one to create a blog? Well...Texas with its expansive ranch land has held several breeds of cattle for different purposes (plowing, milking, food, etc.). Not only that but cattle have held and still holds a very important spot in Texas history since this state was and, in some ways, still is one of the most important cattle industries for millions of people. Therefore, over the course of four years it is our hope to fill in some blanks when it pertains to cattle in the archaeological record as well as help to further current research when it pertains to cattle ranches in dry environments.
